Walking Gomera
Ana
and her husband Manolo have converted the ground floor of their own home to
form a self-contained unit with double bedroom, sitting room with put-you-up
sofa and dining table, shower with lavatory and small kitchen.
There
is a small, vine-covered terrace which is ideal for al fresco eating and passed
by a succession of people and animals.
It
is fifty steps above the road, and being on the east of the valley, gets the
evening sun.
It
is the first such place we discovered, and will always be a favourite.

A
new addition, just up from Ana, is the house formerly occupied by Manolo's
mother. It is fully equipped with a bedroom with one double and one single bed,
a kitchen with dining table, a shower with lavatory and a delightfully secluded
terrace.
Both
apartments could be described as basic, but the warmth of Ana’s welcome more
than makes up for any shortcomings
